When we spoke to Wizards of the Coast’s Aaron Forsythe he told us that people were getting more into the lore and background of Magic: The Gathering than ever, and those people are set to cream themselves this July over the release of Magic Origins.

According to news out of Wizards today, Magic Origins will be a “pivotal new set” that reveals the origin stories of Gideon Jura, Jace Beleren, Liliana Vess, Chandra Nalaar, and Nissa Revane, explaining the key moment that activated their “spark” and turned them from regular chumps like you and I into Planeswalkers.

Magic’s senior creative designer Doug Beyer says that it’s “a different kind of core set than we’ve ever done before, one with ambitious story goals and deep creative impact,” though exactly what that translates to on the battlefield isn’t yet known. Look for it on July 17.
